Domino’s to deliver record number of new stores this quarter

Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Limited (Domino’s) is accelerating new store openings to meet customer demand, with the Company announcing its plans to open almost three new stores each week in Australia and New Zealand over the next three months.  

Domino’s Australia and New Zealand CEO Nick Knight said opening 31 new stores in one quarter would be a record for the Company.

“This growth is customer-driven and a positive for local communities; we have customers asking every week when we will be bringing a new store, and home deliveries, to their area -and in three months, we expect to add more than 800 jobs, in 31 new stores, in Australia and New Zealand.

“To put this in perspective, in the first six months of this financial year we opened 27 stores in Australia and New Zealand, and now we plan to open 31 new stores in just three months; that is a significant achievement and requires a team effort,” Mr Knight said.

“Of these new stores, up to three-quarters will be opened by people already in the business, either existing franchisees or current store managers.”

One of Domino’s newest stores is a dine-in, concept store in Brisbane, which allows customers to craft their own pizza creation and select from premium ingredients tailored for a CBD clientele, including chorizo, prosciutto, bocconcini, gorgonzola and avocado.

Located in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD at 371 Queen Street, the new store places pizza making front and centre, giving customers the best seat in the house as the pizza makers craft their meals.

Similar to a traditional Italian pizzeria, the concept store serves pizzas on bases made from hand-stretched dough and barista-made coffee from Brisbane-based specialty coffee roasters Fonzie Abbott.

The new concept store expects to add alcohol to its menu in the coming months, with Domino’s teaming up with Brisbane-based craft brewery Newstead Brewing Co.

“We are keen to roll out further new stores based on this concept in select high foot traffic locations in the not too distant future,” Mr Knight said.

“It’s about having the right store type for the right location; each aspect of this new store is different, from the fit out, to the staff uniforms.

“It has a restaurant feel, with relaxed music, and allows customers to enjoy a contemporary casual dining atmosphere while devouring delicious flavours from a new menu.

Domino’s Pizza Enterprises was Australia’s first publicly-listed pizza company and is the master franchisor for the Domino’s brand in Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Japan and Germany. Across these seven markets, DPE and its franchisees operate over 2,000 stores.
